Please send your child's lunch prepared to eat, i.e. sandwiches cut, fruit prepared the way your child eats them (e.g. cut apples, peeled oranges). NO CANDY OR DESSERTS! Please do not send anything to drink. We serve milk at lunch at no charge.

The state assumes that the parent will provide a lunch which has:

bullet1 protein (meat, eggs, cheese, PNB)
bullet1 carbohydrate (bread, crackers, pasta)
bullet2 fruits or vegetables

By law, if you do not have all of these food groups for both meals, WE ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THE MISSING FOOD SOURCE. We will charge for this, so please pack breakfast and lunch with these requirements in mind. Chips and fruit roll-ups do not count toward these requirements, but are not prohibited. We do insist that the children eat their minimum requirements before opening their chips. Please do not send juice for lunch.

These are the state minimum requirements. You know the amount of food your child eats and are certainly welcome to send more. Anything that is not eaten will be sent home. We have a microwave and are glad to heat up items in your child’s lunch. Time prevents us from actually cooking (i.e. TV-dinners, potpies, soups, etc.). Canned soups do not have enough protein, please send more protein along with canned soup. It is best to send preheated soups in a thermos that will maintain its temperature - it is very easy to overheat soup in a microwave.
